As lead photographer with York's Bestside Photography, I hope my passion for photography shows in my work.
As well as shooting weddings and portraits, I get enormous satisfaction from landscape photography, and sell work in various locations around the area. There's a small selection available here.
So how do you choose a photographer? Choosing one for a portrait isn't too bad - at least you can go for another session if you don't like the results. Not so easy with your wedding though!
It may be because I'm a petrol-head, but I liken it to choosing a car. You spend ages looking at facts and figures, read reviews, speak to your friends, then you go and try a few. Sometimes you discover that the one with great curves and an glamorous ad campaign has terrible seats. Or the steering wheel's in the wrong place for you. Or for reasons you can't put your finger on, it just doesn't feel right.
And so with photographers. There's a few basics to look at - how long have they been doing it, are they insured, do they carry spare kit etc, and recommendations from friends can be valuable. However at the end of the day, either their work suits you or it doesn't. Every photographer has a style. does it suit you?
If you want cheesy grins and soft focus, go back to Google and try again!
