Portraits

Portraits
the term portrait tend to imply formal, staged photos, and as such isn't really appropriate, however the term really means - to quote Wikipedia - A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. The final sentence the the important one. A portrait should show the real you, not the you who has been told to smile at the camera, dressed in clothes they're embarrassed to be seen in.

Our recent subjects have ranged from 3 weeks to 90 years old. We often shoot 3-4 generations at a time, so making everyone happy and comfortable takes real skill.

Being a small independent firm gives us a considerable advantage over national chains and franchises. Photographers in chain studios tend to be taught the same posing techniques, and provide similar photos to everyone, in the dictated style of the company. They also have sales targets to meet - hence the huge number of stories of unhappy customers feeling pressured into buying more than they want.
This doesn't suit us at all. We treat every shoot differently - applying our style to your personality and preferences.
The only pressure you'll feel after a shoot with us is trying to narrow down your choice of photos. We price our packages so that you get a good range, not just 1 or 2. After all, we want you to come back as your child grows, and you will only do that if you feel you have had value for money.

We can provide a wide range of quality yet affordable products, with examples on display in the studio. Being independent, we can change these products as and when suitable new ones are available, and are not tied to a standard range.

Paul particularly likes leaving the studio behind and working outdoors. The most mundane of backdrops can be made in to an interesting image, given a bit of imagination, and appropriate lighting. An open mind and good waterproofs are essential!

Boudoir

Boudoir photography is becoming increasing popular, and we are now offering it as a package.
What is it?
Boudoir is a style of photography which creates sexy, flattering images - usually, though not exclusively - of women. This isn't glamour (though we do that too!), it's about using creative lighting and posing to highlight the sensuality of real women .
Who's it for?

It is almost exclusively commissioned by women. Some want the photos for themselves, to look back on in the future. Many want the photos as a present for their partner - particularly as an engagement or wedding gift.

I'm no size zero!
Few people are - including the models we work with.
Few people look at their best in their underwear, in strong lighting on a white background, but lower the lighting, create an intimate environment, and pose appropriately, and the results can be stunning.

Will people see the photos?
Only you. They are put onto a password protected website, where you can view them in privacy. Of course, you could show your friends if you wish, but they won't be publicly available. That's why we don't have example shots on the website of real women, only models.

I hate posing!
So do I! We will never ask you to say cheese. Posing of this kind is very subtle. Parts of you won't be visible to the camera (depending on how brave you're feeling!).

What would I wear?
Most shots would be in lingerie, however great results can be had with just a pair of jeans.

What about hair and make-up?
You are welcome to do this yourself, or we can arrange a professional stylist to be present to keep you looking gorgeous.

What does it cost?
We have a specific package for Boudoir. Generally people won't be displaying large images in their homes, as they do with portraits, so we are offering the same modern, high quality albums we use for weddings, so you can keep your photo collection in top condition, and it's only on display when you want it to be. We can also produce magazine-style photobooks. The cost of the shoot and a 20 page album is £250. A stylist costs from £40. Many other products are available, and you can purchase a DVD if you wish.
Contact us to view albums, and talk about what sort of photos you'd like.
